Hyperconverged infrastructure vendor SimpliVity announced during Cisco Live! that it will support Cisco UCS Director to help optimize customer private and hybrid cloud environments.

The hyperconverged solution is expected to be available next quarter and will support Cisco UCS Director to automate infrastructure management and orchestrate the provisioning of VMs with data protection and mobility, according to the announcement.

“SimpliVity’s Data Virtualization Platform provides an extremely efficient, scalable and high-performance architecture, further simplifying the Cisco UCS Director’s orchestration capabilities for customers utilizing our hyperconverged infrastructure solution with UCS,” said Jesse St. Laurent, vice president of product strategy at SimpliVity, in a statement. “Instead of introducing yet another management paradigm, we work with tools that customers are already using, such as Cisco UCS Director and VMware vCenter.”

In case you aren’t familiar with SimpliVity’s hyperconverged infrastructure, the solution works by assimilating all IT below the hypervisor into a single platform, and creates a single shared scale-out resource pool for data deduplication, compression and optimization, according to the company. SimpliVity said its architecture also provides global unified management, VM-centricity and mobility to make automation and orchestration functionalities faster and more efficient.

SimpliVity previously teamed with Cisco when the company launched its OmniStack Integrated Solution for Cisco UCS last year. Both solutions are certified Cisco Compatible, and SimpliVity is a Cisco Preferred Solution Partner and TSANet partner, providing customers with easier access to support.

Last year, SimpliVity announced the launch of its new PartnerAdvantage program, which marked the company’s entrance into the channel.

In March, former vice president and general manager of Cisco’s Computing Systems Product Group Paul Perez left the company, leaving Cisco’s UCS business without a leader. The company appointed Satinder Sethi, UCS Product Management and Solutions vice president to replace Perez until a replacement can be found.
