cloud heart
NetEnrich, a cloud remote operations (ROC) service provider and Axcient, a cloud-based data and application protection provider have announced a strategic alliance, designed to combine both of their strengths to help simplify IT tasks for MSPs and VARs. But what’s behind this new partnership, and what could it mean to you? Here’s more.First some background. NetEnrich spent last year pushing its Closet to Cloud initiative. SVP and GM Justin Crotty, formerly head of Ingram Micro’s cloud and MSP division, has pointed out to MSPmentor readers that the NOC and the help desk are not one and the same. NetEnrich wants to help MSPs with the NOC work, alerts, making sure the entire infrastructure is running smoothly, and leaving the high-touch help desk work to the MSPs themselves. That focus did not go unnoticed by an unnamed Silicon Valley company that called MSPmentor asking questions about NetEnrich in December 2011. (Disclaimer: This blogger has absolutely no knowledge of who called Joe Panettieri on that night in December.)
Then in March 2012, NetEnrich told another MSPmentor blogger about the company’s plans to put a greater market focus on the M part of SMB by packaging its NOC for that customer set.
Network in the Cloud
Meanwhile, Axcient and its CEO Justin Moore in May 2012 began talking about virtualizing entire SMB networks in the cloud. Moore has previously told MSPmentor that the Axcient Cloud Continuity service is “instantaneous,” firing up applications and data in the cloud in roughly the time that it takes a server to reboot. Now, while this blogger is not an MSP and has not tested this service, it sounds pretty impressive if it performs as promised.
What do these two companies have in common? The cloud. The network. The market focus. Two smart guys at the top named Justin. NetEnrich’s outsourced NOC managed service and Axcient’s virtualization of entire SMB networks in the cloud sounds like a match made in the cloud (if not in Heaven).
What it Means for MSPs
So here’s the scoop about what MSPs will get from today’s new strategic alliance. The Axcient/NetEnrich Managed Data Uptime Solution leverages NetEnrich’s fully-managed monitoring, escalation and remediation services for SMBs and the midmarket, available through its NOC and ROC to provide 24x7x365 administration services for VARs and MSPs deploying the Axcient platform as part of their service offering, the companies said in a statement. VARs and MSPs get Axcient’s cloud solution for data backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery, giving them the assurance of all-the-time data, application and system uptime.
The Axcient/NetEnrich Managed Data Uptime Solution is available at different levels of monitoring and management to meet the needs of different businesses and supports Microsoft, Mac, and Linux-based applications, physical and virtual servers, and applications such as Microsoft Exchange, SQL, and SharePoint.
The Axcient/NetEnrich Managed Data Uptime Solution is available this month through both companies, Axcient or NetEnrich. What’s next for the two Justins? MSPmentor will be watching.
