Canonical's Ubuntu Server Edition Meets HP ProLiant Servers

Only hours after Valentine’s Day in the United States, Hewlett-Packard is showing Canonical’s Ubuntu Server Edition some love. Specifically, HP plans to certify its ProLiant servers to run Ubuntu Server Edition. Here’s the scoop, along with the implications for solutions providers.

The result: ProLiant solutions providers will be able to load Ubuntu Server Edition with confidence, asserts Gerry Carr, marketing manager for Canonical.

Although Ubuntu is best known as a desktop operating system, Canonical has been enhancing Ubuntu Server Edition to compete more effectively against Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Novell SUSE Linux.
