Quest Software, the IT management solution provider, has upgraded its Foglight Network Management System (NMS) to include support for a VoIP service from Avaya, the Unified Communications (UC) provider that recently acquired RADVISION.

The new Foglight NMS for VoIP solution gives business network engineers the ability to proactively address issues such as dropped calls, poor phone quality and network delays. Overall, Quest says the NMS for VoIP solution is intended to give both network engineers and network admins greater insight into how each of their individual business networks are working with Avaya’s VoIP systems. In a prepared statement, Quest Software VP of Product Management Matt Bolton explained why it made sense for Quest to extend its network management capabilities to include VoIP systems.

“Foglight Network Management System (NMS) is a leading tool used to monitor network infrastructure,” Bolton said, while revealing Quest’s intention of becoming the vendor of choice for network and VoIP infrastructure monitoring. “It is a natural extension to provide solutions to manage and monitor VoIP infrastructure as well.”

The greater insight Quest is looking to provide with its new NMS for Avaya VoIP systems includes things like generating reports and alerts on all VoIP voice metrics; monitoring throughout local and remote geographic regions; both agent and agent-less options for scalability and unified monitoring of VoIP systems and network infrastructures in a single pane of glass. And what’s more, Quest claims its NMS for VoIP solution can be installed and configured in less than 15 minutes.

Quest Software has been busy developing more than its network management solution for VoIP systems. Earlier this month, Quest built upon its acquisition of BlueFolder by adding Professional Services Automation (PSA) technology to its PacketTrap MSP remote monitoring and management (RMM) solution for managed services providers.
