StorageCraft, a data backup and disaster recovery provider, today introduced OneXafe, a converged scale-out storage and data protection platform for physical and virtual environments.

The new offer has been in the works for about a year. “Now we’re delivering the industry’s first converged primary and secondary storage solution,” Sean Derrington, senior director, product management at StorageCraft, told us. “This integrates all of the data protection services for physical and virtual servers as well as primary storage needs.”

StorageCraft also announced ShadowXafe, software-only data protection services.

“Both of these offering support partners that have customer requirements for on-premises data recovery storage services or cloud-based. And, they can actually recover their applications in StorageCraft’s cloud,” he said.

Here’s our most recent list of new products and services being offered by agents, VARs, MSPs and other channel partners.

More specifically, the new offer targets midmarket businesses who have a lot of the same data protection challenges as enterprise companies, such as being able to scale dynamically and recover applications quickly. Contending that rival vendors such as Cohesity and Rubrik have “abandoned” the market, Derrington said, “Midsize companies can’t afford their [Cohesity and Rubrik] solutions and they’re not designed for the midmarket.”

Breakthrough economics, or cost, for OneXafe is one of the platform’s key tenets, along with data protection, scale-out storage and seamless administration.

Regarding cost, StorageCraft contends that its expertise is in the midmarket and that it can deliver a cost-effective solution, one that’s even less expensive than Amazon S3 storage. “Ours costs .002/GB per month,” said Derrington. “This is very flexible for partners who have customers with terabyte-size requirements and can grow to petabyte scale.”

The vendor’s three new converged appliances, announced today, include Capacity OneXafe 4417 and 4412, converged data protection and primary storage for unstructured data, archiving and video repositories; and all flash OneXafe 5412, converged data protection for instant application recovery requirements and high-performance unstructured data to serve primary virtual server production application needs. OneXafe 4400 pricing starts at less than $14,000 USD for 144TB. Pricing for the OneXafe 5400 starts at just under $30,000 USD for 38TB, according to StorageCraft.

Jeannine Edwards, senior director, channel marketing at StorageCraft, says that OneXafe and the company’s innovation around ShadowProtect with the new ShadowXafe offer, creates a suite of products that spans the entire business continuity category.

“So, no matter what kind of customer you are, or solution provider you are, you have the opportunity to make sure that data is protected and recoverable,” she said, noting that the company serves businesses from SMBs through the midmarket.

ShadowXafe is available immediately, while OneXafe availability is expected by the end of September.

Earlier this month, StorageCraft announced multiple enhancements to its disaster recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) offering for MSPs. And, in late June, the vendor announced new integrations with ConnectWise and Autotask.
