Pure Storage Releases VMware Storage Replication Adapter, Plug-in

Pure Storage is rolling out a free Storage Replication Adapter for VMware (VMW) vCenter Site Recovery Manager as well as an updated vSphere Web Client Plug-in. The solid-state array vendor said its new solutions will allow VMware administrators to enhance their storage and virtualization management, in addition to providing disaster recovery protection and scalability for their virtual environments.

“With our new VMware vSphere Web Client and Site Recovery Manager integrations, we are simplifying storage management for VMware users by bringing daily operations and disaster recovery processes into their native VMware environments, ensuring the delivery of agile, resilient, highly performance and protected virtualized applications,” said Vaughn Stewart, chief evangelist at Pure Storage, in a statement.

Pure’s new Storage Replication Adapter includes native array replication and protection for vCenter, and will allow administrators to provide automated default data protection and replication policies to the virtual environment, according to the company.

The adapter will also feature differentiated data protection and replication policies for vSphere datastores and data clusters as well as data protection plans with centralized reporting. The adapter is compatible with all current versions of vSphere SRM and is available for download either from VMware or the Pure Storage Community.

The new Web Client Plug-in will allow administrators to perform storage provisioning directly within the vSphere management interface, giving users more operational agility, according to the announcement. The plug-in also includes tighter integration with FlashArray’s Purity Operating Environment and allows admins to create automatic snapshot backups.

The plug-in is compatible with vSphere 5.1 and all future releases and is expected to launch with Purity version 4.1.1 next month.
