Axcient Buys DirectRestore, Increases Product Development Team
Axcient will buy DirectRestore, a Dover, Delaware-based granular recovery technology solutions provider, for its granular application recovery technology.
Cloud-based backup and disaster recovery services provider Axcient has acquired DirectRestore for its product development team and granular recovery technology. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Axcient this week said its purchase of Dover, Delaware-based DirectorRestore increases its development team, thereby enabling the company to bring products to market faster.
DirectRestore’s product portfolio enables the restoration of mainstream applications such as SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange database backups and replications. Axcient customers can immediately leverage this technology at no extra charge.
“By switching to Axcient, channel partners can now provide their clients with not only system level replication and instant recovery and failover for laptops, desktops and servers, but also best-in-class granular application recovery — all from one vendor in one dashboard from one deduplicated copy of the data,” Axcient CEO Justin Moore told Talkin’ Cloud in an interview.

Axcient was in the middle of building its own granular application recovery technology when it encountered DirectRestore and field-tested the technology. “We were blown away by how advanced it was and how seamless we could integrate it into our core solution and merge it with our code-base,” Moore said.
“However, since controlling the technology and having a fully integrated solution has always been a part of our mission as it allows us to develop more rapidly control our roadmap and service our partners and customers better, we knew we had to acquire the company or continue building the product ourselves,” he said.
