CentriLogic is expanding its global presence following the acquisition of Adveniat, a data center operator and hosting services provider located in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The purchase puts CentriLogic into a new regional market and is its third acquisition in the last 18 months.
The company, a Toronto-based cloud, managed hosting and colocation services firm with data centers in seven markets, has been building out its cloud services in recent years. CentriLogic provides customers with an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud offering in addition to its more traditional data center services.
With the acquisition of Adveniat, CentriLogic now has nine data centers in seven markets, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The company’s executive team expects the move to increase its presence with its IaaS offerings.
“Our presence in the U.S. Virgin Islands enables us to add another availability zone to our international IaaS cloud offering, while simultaneously extending the reach of our interconnected colocation and managed hosting services to new and existing customers throughout Central and South America,” said Robert Offley, president and CEO of CentriLogic. “Through Adveniat’s existing relationship with RT Park, any CentriLogic ecommerce and digital media business customers can achieve substantial income tax benefits by leveraging our services in the region. We also anticipate the launch of an additional Mothership1 availability zone within the U.S. Virgin Islands, available to customers requiring a cloud application development and deployment platform with compelling cost, technical, and income tax advantages.”
Mothership1 is CentriLogic’s IaaS offering that launched in May. It’s a joint venture between CentriLogic and technology incubator Incubaid and is being positioned as an alternative to Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure (MSFT) and Google Cloud (GOOG).
Adveniat operates a Tier 1, N+2 data center. To date, CentriLogic has operated exclusively in the Northern Hemisphere, but the move into the U.S. Virgin Islands hints at an expansion south of the equator in time. According to CentriLogic, the acquisition will help it serve customers throughout the Caribbean and the Southern Hemisphere.
