Datto Purchases Backupify to Create Total Data Protection Platform
Datto has acquired Backupify, a provider of cloud-to-cloud BDR solutions for SaaS-based applications. Together, Datto and Backupify will protect data for nearly 2 million businesses. Here are the details of the deal.
Datto today announced it has acquired Backupify, a provider of cloud-to-cloud backup and disaster recovery (BDR) solutions for software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“At a time when data lives in and flows freely from on-premise servers and systems, virtualized environments and third-party clouds, data protection and recovery takes on a whole new meaning,” Datto CEO Austin McChord said in a prepared statement. “Backupify provides must-have solutions for companies entrusting their data to SaaS applications, and our team will help complete the vision of creating a Total Data Protection Platform.”
Datto said the acquisition will allow it to speed up its plans to create a Total Data Protection Platform to safeguard business data that is housed on-premise, in a cloud or within SaaS applications.
The data BDR software company also pointed out that this platform will give managed service providers (MSPs) and their customers instant recovery and data protection.
“Hybrid cloud disaster recovery and data protection is one of the enterprise’s most transformative technology initiatives, as it is paving the way for hybrid cloud integration within the enterprise. Datto is leading the pack, and the acquisition of Backupify only makes Datto’s innovative technology architecture and cloud-based approach all the more powerful,” Datto board member Dr. Steve Herrod said.
