Intralinks (IL) has added a Boston-based cloud infrastructure provider to its portfolio.

The New York-based content collaboration company has acquired Verilume for an undisclosed sum.

In addition, Intralinks noted Verilume employees will join its products and development teams as part of the transaction.

Verilume co-founders Dan Petrozzo and Mike Feinberg also will join Intralinks; Petrozzo will assume the role of senior vice president of external operations and global support at Intralinks, while Feinberg has been named the company’s senior vice president of development.

“The Verilume team adds depth to Intralinks’ expertise, which reinforces and enhances our commitment to protecting customers’ high-value information,” Intralinks CEO Ron Hovsepian said in a prepared statement

So what does the acquisition mean for both companies?

Feinberg said Verilume’s expertise “directly aligns to Intralinks’ ability to integrate, deploy and manage distributed content nodes around the globe.”

“This expertise uniquely qualifies us to help realize Intralinks’ vision for distributed, flexible and secure content collaboration across business boundaries,” he wrote in a blog post. “Increasingly, clients want to have options as to precisely how they control the flow of their information and where their content and data is stored and processed in a SaaS-based cloud environment.”

Intralinks recorded $276.2 million in total revenue last year, up 8 percent year over year.

Hovsepian pointed out the Verilume addition may help Intralinks accelerate its growth as well.

“The acquisition of Verilume advances Intralinks’ strategic vision to speed the delivery to market of new capabilities aimed at solving compliance and governance concerns,” he said.
