Pioneer Telephone (Booth 811) has expanded operations through the purchase of Adelphia Communications Corp.s long-distance customer base. A privately held company founded in 1989 and based in Portland, Maine, Pioneer is taking on approximately 110,000 customers in 27 states.

The Adelphia base is a good match for our company, says Peter Bouchard, Pioneer founder and vice president.

In anticipation of the added business, Pioneer increased its staff. Among the new employees are Bill Turner, senior agent manager, with more than 18 years of experience in telecommunication business communications. Most recently, he was with Acceris Communications.

Grace Jones, Pioneers new technical support coordinator, brings telecom and switch experience, and most recently worked nine years for Cingular Wireless. She oversees all Pioneer switch traffic.

Pioneer Telephone provides national and international long-distance coverage, toll-free service, T1 dedicated service and calling cards throughout the continental United States.
