Sirius Buys IT Solutions Provider Varrow for Cloud, Virtualization Technology
Sirius has acquired Varrow, a $146 million Greensboro, NC-based consulting, design and managed services specialist, for cloud and virtualization technology.
IT solutions integrator Sirius has acquired Varrow, a $146 million Greensboro, NC-based consulting, design and managed services specialist focused on all the hot spots–cloud, data storage management, disaster recovery, mobility, security and virtualization.
Neither party disclosed terms of the deal. Sirius said Varrow will give it a stronger sales presence along the eastern seaboard, particularly in North Carolina and Virginia, and boost its portfolio in cloud, storage, converged infrastructure, virtualization, mobility and security.
“Our clients are moving more and more toward converged infrastructure and private cloud solutions,” said Joe Mertens, Sirius president and chief executive.
“We are also seeing increasing demand for mobility and security solutions, so we have continued to invest in those practices. Varrow brings a wealth of expertise in these areas, and they have earned their clients’ respect with the exceptional quality of their people and services,” he said.
Dan Weiss, Varrow managing partner and chief financial officer, said access to Sirius’ resources and the opportunity to gain new partnerships with technology manufacturers to extend its sales reach keyed the deal.
“Joining Sirius gives Varrow a tremendous opportunity for continued growth,” he said. “The Varrow team will extend Sirius’ reach in the East Coast. We will continue to help our clients succeed in this region, but now we will have Sirius’ resources as well. Additionally, we both have strong partnerships with leading technology manufacturers. In joining forces, those partnerships will be greatly enhanced with our broader national geographical reach.”
Varrow’s top management will transition to Sirius and will gain shares in the combined company, CRN reported. Varrow’s 165 employees also will keep their jobs with exception of a few layoffs in back-office operations, the report said.
The acquisition follows Sirius’ purchase last October of Brightlight Consulting, a business intelligence consulting firm headquartered in Redmond, WA.
