Security solution provider Sophos has acquired cloud security firm Mojave Networks for an unnamed sum, in an effort to strengthen its cloud-managed and appliance-based security solutions.
The deal will provide new cloud-based web security for its Sophos Cloud offering and enable hybrid deployment options for its line of network security hardware solutions, according to Sophos.
The integration of Mojave’s cloud security platform is expected to allow Sophos customers to institute new web filtering engines to protect their online interactions as well as rapid protection from threats through real-time threat detection via the cloud. Mojave’s SMB-friendly management experience and OS-agnostic platform are also ideal for helping Sophos to provide visibility and protection for enterprise devices on or off the corporate network, according to the company.
Sophos will integrate Mojave Network’s technology into the Sophos Cloud product line beginning in early 2015, with integration into its appliance-based network security solutions scheduled for later next year.
“Mojave Networks is a young innovative company that has built a leading platform right at the intersection of three cutting-edge areas of security: cloud, web security, and mobile,” said Kris Hagerman, CEO of Sophos, in a statement. “We’re dedicated to delivering security that is both powerful and comprehensive, but also simple. By integrating Mojave Networks’ technology into Sophos Cloud, we’re extending our leadership position and enhancing an offering that is already one of the fastest growing products in Sophos’ history.”
Sophos released its cloud-managed security service last October, as the company joined the increasing number of vendors expanding their security offerings to the virtual space. In May, Sophos unveiled the latest version of Sophos Cloud, with the added ability to support multiple operating systems including Windows, Mac and mobile devices from a single console.
