Splunk Strengthens Observability Platform with Flowmill Purchase

Splunk is acquiring Flowmill, a network performance monitoring (NPM) company, to extend its observability platform.

With Flowmill, Splunk gives customers the ability to ingest, analyze and take action on additional cloud network and infrastructure data. They can then resolve network-related issues, optimize network performance and reduce network costs.

The acquisition should close this quarter. Splunk isn’t saying how much it spent on Flowmill.

“Given we’ve only announced our intent to acquire Flowmill and the deal has not yet closed, we cannot elaborate further just yet on what this means for Splunk’s partners,” he said. “We continue to provide value to our partners as we expand our observability offerings. Flowmill brings a depth of expertise in NPM and will enhance Splunk’s Observability Suite.”

Complementing Previous Acquisitions

Splunk recently acquired Plumbr, an application performance monitoring (APM) company. It’s also buying Rigor, a digital experience monitoring (DEM) company. Rigor offers advanced synthetic monitoring and optimization tools. Both acquisitions increase Splunk’s observability platform capabilities.

The Splunk Observability Suite includes solutions for infrastructure monitoring, application performance monitoring, digital experience monitoring, log investigation and incident response.
