LENOVO ACCELERATE — As Lenovo continues to expand and invest in communities such as SMB, large enterprise customers, government and education, the company is arming partners with new products, introduced this week at Transform 3.0 at Lenovo Accelerate. The new wares span across the vendor’s Think brand including ThinkIoT, ThinkReality, ThinkCentre, and ThinkShield.

There’s a new ThinkBook, AR headset, ThinkCenter Nano and Nano IoT, ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 and ThinkShield additions.

“We have to drive the next intelligent transformation in how we connect to all devices, in the cloud, into the core and ultimately, drive a meaningful data collection and meaningful data analytics to make our businesses smarter,” said Christian Teismann, senior vice president and general manager, enterprise business segment, Lenovo. “Our strategy is very simple and is based on three pillars: smart devices to empower users with intelligent device choices, smarter workplaces to make IT more efficient to enhance the user experiences, and smarter businesses — to make them more competitive with emerging technologies.”

Lenovo unveiled new ThinkBooks to its Accelerate audience.

The ThinkBook, which targets small and medium-size businesses (SMBs), is the first of a couple of new sub-brands for the Think brand. The new S series includes the 13s and 14s, the first products in the portfolio of ultraslim laptops. They’re portable and billed as easy-to-use, modern consumer-oriented devices. What that means is that they’re specifically designed for SMBs buying consumer laptops for perceived design and price advantages but can no longer rationalize their lack of extended services, warranties and security.

TheThinkBook 14s weighs 3.3 pounds and the 13s weighs 2.95 pounds. Some features: single-step authentication and power-on with the touch fingerprint reader; discrete TPM 2.0 to enable Windows10 security features and user data encryption; physical ThinkShutter camera cover for privacy control; hingeTs coated in Indium metal to reduce WiFi interference; Dolby Audio through Harman speaker; premium FHD displays with Dolby Vision (onThinkBook13s); up to 11 hours of battery life and Rapid Charge on the ThinkBook 13s, up to 10 hours on ThinkBook 14s.

At the other end of the spectrum is the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2, which includes a 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU with Max-Q design, and up to double the storage, at 4TB. It’s designed for advanced business users with high performance needs, such as data intensive workloads from video and photo editing to graphics rendering, AR/VR applications and more. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 is a thin and light Windows10 laptop. It features a brighter optional 4K OLED touch display, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos speaker system.

The new ThinkCentre Nano (M90n-1) is an ultraportable PC that’s designed to fit anywhere — behind a monitor, under a table or on a bookshelf, for some examples. The new device is powered by a compatible USB Type-C monitor or Type-C dock. It’s built to be energy efficient and incorporate a fanless design, has a broad thermal range (0-50°C) and is able to withstand higher vibration and thermal environments like manufacturing.

The companion ThinkCentre Nano (M90n-1) IoT, used as a secure IoT gateway, is designed to provide processing and security for the IoT devices at the edge. The Nano IoT increases responsiveness and reliability by enabling the rapid relay of information among connected IoT peripherals, sensors and devices, even in harsher commercial environments. The ThinkCentre Nano is the newest addition to Lenovo ThinkIoT product portfolio.

The second new sub-brand for Lenovo is ThinkReality, created as part of its smarter business initiative. The design concept is to …

… help workers use augmented reality (AR) applications to get assistance, reduce repair times, eliminate errors, streamline complex workflows, improve training quality, collaborate and save money. The ThinkReality A6 is Lenovo’s AR headset, and the first product in the ThinkReality portfolio.

The A6 is a lightweight, heads-up, hands-free mobile head-worn device that can be used to a range of AR solutions. The product weighs less than a pound and offers a 40-degree diagonal field of view with 1080p resolution per eye. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 MobileXR Platform on Android. ThinkReality A6 headset features waveguide optics by Lumus inside an Intel Movidius Vision Processing Unit (VPU).

The ThinkReality platform enables users to pin, interact and collaborate with 3-D digital information in the real world for improved contextual awareness and efficiency. The platform is device and is cloud-agnostic, making it easy for enterprise customers to adopt and manage AR and VR software applications across multiple operating systems, cloud services and devices.

Launched last year, ThinkShield is a fully customizable suite of security-related services, software and hardware capabilities that protect the full life cycle of commercial devices, from development to disposal. This week, Lenovo added the ThinkShield chip, self-healing BIOS and ThinkShield Dark Endpoint Protection.

Lenovo’s ThinkShield portfolio is designed to provide security across all Lenovo Think devices, data centers and emerging solutions. ThinkShield takes a holistic approach to security that focuses on a customer’s four biggest pain points in protecting their data, identity and devices.
