Nottingham Trent University — located in Nottingham, United Kingdom — has recently selected MobiControl, a SOTI Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution, to manage and  support the university's Samsung Android devices. Nottingham Trent said it selected SOTI's solution its ability to streamline the deployment of new devices, update software efficiently and effectively, and provide fundamental IT support.

Nottingham Trent University, one of the United Kingdom's largest universities with around 24,000 students, searched for a MDM solution with the capability to manage Samsung Android devices on three separate campuses. MobiControl's Asset Management feature enables the university to manage devices individually or in groups. The MobiControl Dashboard assists the university's IT administrators with an interactive overview of mobile asset status.

With MobiControl, the university will be able to update devices with enterprise or market applications while preventing the installation of unauthorized applications. The solution also provides the university with the ability to disable or remove applications, and use blacklists to prohibit selected applications. To protect information on stolen devices, MobiControl allows the university to wipe application data.

MobiControl's help desk tools assists the University's IT team with addressing technical issues. The solution enables the university to resolve device issues 24/7. Devices can be viewed and managed by the university's support team. Downtime is therefore reduced, and mobile support is augmented.

With these advantages, Nottingham Trent University hopes to provide students with the best possible services to continue to shape their future; Nottingham's nine academic schools work closely with Student Support Services and Academic offices to ensure this vision.
