MobileIron on Tuesday said it has added several new capabilities to its enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform to satisfy the needs of mobile operations in customer organizations.

Coming off the heels of its announced plans to go public, the EMM provider has introduced mobile business intelligence, advanced support capabilities and mainstream app security into its mobility platform to assist channel partners with deployment support.

Through its integration with Splunk Inc. (SPLK), a real-time operational intelligence platform, MobileIron said customers will now be able to receive critical information to support threat detection, problem resolution and strategic decision-making, providing customers with additional mobile business intelligence. (Splunk made the news last month after IT systems management software provider Kaseya added Tom Schodorf, senior VP of worldwide field operations for Splunk, to its board of directors.)

The platform update also includes Help@Work, a new way for employees to share Apple (AAPL) iOS device screens with help desk personnel. This feature allows employees to show tech support the problem, instead of just describing the details of the issue.

MobileIron Product Vice President Sean Convery told MSPmentor via email that “Help@Work streamlines iOS support by improving communication between employees and help desk staff to resolve issues faster.”

To connect apps to enterprise systems, the company integrated MobileIron Tunnel, a per app virtual private network (VPN), with its platform. This enables organizations to authorize both internally-built apps and App Store apps to access corporate resources behind the firewall.

Convery said VPN capabilities are only enabled via the iOS platform, not the Google (GOOG) Android platform.

“As organizations embrace mobility as a primary IT platform, managing large mobile deployments could become increasingly complex without the right management solution,” Convery said. “These new EMM capabilities simplify mobile operations at scale and enable our partners to better support customer deployments.”
