CompTIA, the IT industry association, has added six new members to its board of directors for 2015-16. They come from some of the biggest names in the technology world.

They are:

  • Scott Barlow, vice president, sales and marketing, Reflexion Networks

  • Mary Ellen Grom, vice president, U.S. marketing, SYNNEX Corp.

  • Eric Martorano, general manager, U.S. channel sales, Microsoft

  • Tracy Pound, managing director, MaximITy

  • Dan Shapero, director, global cloud marketing, Ingram Micro

  • Joseph Squeri, CIO, Citadel

MJ Shoer, president and virtual CTO at Jenaly Technology Group, will remain board chairman – his third year in that role.

“As a member-led organization, CompTIA gives a voice to every aspect of the IT industry and IT channel,” Shoer said. “The diversity, experience and goodwill on our board is something I’ve not seen elsewhere in the industry. We’ve accomplished so much in a short period of time, and I’m eager to see what the future holds.”

Vice chairs for 2015-16 are Mont Phelps, CEO, NWN Corp., and Frank Vitagliano, vice president, channel sales, Dell. Both have previously served as directors.

Also returning to the board for another term are Amy Kardel, co-owner, Clever Ducks; Quy Nguyen, CEO, Allyance Communications; Gordon Pelosse, vice president, technology support delivery, Canada, Hewlett Packard (Canada); Barry Williams, executive director, indirect channel sales, Comcast Business; and Aaron Woods, director, NARS relationship and partner program, Xerox.

“The collective experience, insight and vision of our board of directors is unmatched anywhere else in our industry,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO, CompTIA. “Their commitment to CompTIA is testament to the value that an independent organization, open to all corners of the industry, brings to individuals and organizations.”

The association this week released its Fourth Annual Trends in Managed Services study, which revealed that managed services is now a $154 billion industry in North America.
