TBI has hired a cloud communications architect to help partners sell more emerging technologies.

Scott Ward joined the Chicago-based master agent, whose “Tech Gurus” unit identifies next-generation technologies from its supplier partners and provides support for partners selling those technologies. Ward will provide pre- and post-sale support for channel partners.

“I have heard so much about TBI from colleagues, agents and sales partners, and the feedback was incredibly and unanimously positive. I am very excited to be joining the TBI family,” Ward said. “TBI is growing at a tremendous rate, and it all starts with the white-glove approach to customer experience. I have a sincere appreciation for that approach, as it also how I approach designing solutions and working with customers.”

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in January.

Ward boasts a lengthy resume as a sales/solutions engineer. He most recently worked for RapidScale, which Cox acquired in 2018. He spent six years at Verizon Enterprise as a senior sales engineer. He also worked for Sungard Availability Services and an IT hosting provider called The Planet.

TBI last month hired John Romeo as a cloud communications architect and James Demetrius as a cloud infrastructure architect. Anish Patel joined TBI late last year to head up the unit.

“This role was created for a very specific reason, and that is to help our partners really change the game in 2020 and beyond by helping them pivot into selling more emerging technologies like SD-WAN, like cloud, like security, big data, AI and IoT,” he told us in an interview.
