Twilio, the cloud communications platform company, on Tuesday announced Chetan Chaudhary as global vice president of partners. The new channel chief replaces Ron Huddleston, who died in October after a brief eight months at Twilio.

No stranger to the channel, Chaudhary has been with Twilio for five years in a number of roles including head of channel sales and general manager of the company’s IoT business unit. He will be responsible for Twilio Build, the company’s partner program.

“Faced with the unexpected search to find a new partner leader this fall, the team evaluated many options,” said George Hu, chief operating officer at Twilio. “We unanimously decided that there is no one in the market better positioned to lead Twilio’s partner team than Chetan. A long-time ‘Twilion’ and trusted leader, Chetan has built business units from inception to significant size multiple times at Twilio. We are excited for the future success of the partner organization under his leadership.”

Chaudhary takes on the role of channel lead in addition to his position as general manager and vice president of the IoT business unit, which he built from the ground up. In his earlier years at Twilio, Chaudhary led the design and development of the channel and go-to-market strategy.

He also has experience from Oracle and two stints at Cisco.

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in December.

Going forward, Chaudhary is responsible for building and driving strategy partner relationships with ISVs and system-integration partners. In his IoT role, he’s responsible for the company’s programmable wireless product and affiliated teams.

“As Twilio continues to grow rapidly and invest in new markets, partners are an increasingly important part of our ecosystem,” said Chaudhary. “There is a massive opportunity for partners to join forces with Twilio to redefine the communications industry and I look forward to building on the incredible momentum we are already seeing to create a best-in-class partner organization.”
