Channel People on the Move: Vonage, Telarus, TPx, More
The first edition of the year also features moves at Commvault, Pax8 and Kaspersky.

Vonage's Greg Franzen
Vonage is racking up former Windstream channel folks, adding Greg Franzen as director of strategic partners for North America. He's tasked with helping these types of partners in the eastern U.S. focus on "strategic alignment and execution in the field."
Franzen most recently worked for Sierra Wireless, directing efforts for strategic partners, MSPs and VARs. He spent 13 years at Windstream, where he ultimately oversaw the company's agent channel in the Mid-Atlantic.
Vonage hired Windstream alum Mario DeRiggi as its new channel boss just a month ago.

BullsEye Telecom's Tom Tisko
Tom Tisko, a longtime BullsEye exec, takes the CEO reins from Bill Oberlin, who is stepping aside from the top job 20 years after founding the company. Tisko has been there from the beginning, serving as COO since 2017; in the 18 years prior, he was executive vice president. Oberlin will remain on the board of directors.

TBI's Peter Plesh
Peter Plesh will support TBI subagents in the East, working out of New Jersey as the master agent's newest channel manager.
Plesh is well-known to many in the channel from his long run at Windstream, where he held a number of roles in direct and indirect sales.

Telarus' Anton Loon
Telarus hired Anton Look as its new senior partner development manager. He'll be responsible for leading recruiting efforts and working with Telarus partners in Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Cincinnati, Ohio, to expand their data, voice, cloud and contact-center practices.
Prior to Telarus, Loon was VP of channel sales for PowerNet. He also had stints at Primus Communications and Cable & Wireless.

TPx's Christine Moyer
Christine Moyer is a new channel manager for TPx, the managed services and connectivity provider, serving the Dallas area.
Moyer comes to TPx from PCM, and IT product and service provider. This makes 13 new channel sales professionals for TPx in 2018.

Commvault's Carmen Sorice
Commvault, the data-protection provider, turned to former Sungard Availability Services channel chief Carmen Sorice to be its new VP of worldwide route services, a newly created position at the company. He is tasked with partner enablement, partner programs and operations.
Sorice founded Qlarity and served as its CEO for more than a year. The company provided multicloud advisory services, and channel and sales solutions. He was with Sungard AS for nine years.

GTDC's Tim Curran
Tim Curran, longtime CEO of the Global Technology Distribution Council, is retiring from the nonprofit after 16 years at the helm.
Since being appointed in 2002, Curran has advanced partnerships for the organization, as well as resources and initiatives focused on creating awareness and understanding of distribution's impact and value worldwide. The search for a permanent replacement is on.

BitTitan's Tony Rummans
Tony Rummans came to BitTitan from ProQuest, where he led a global sales team of 300 that "significantly grew revenues."
Rummans previously was a senior VP of software and solutions sales for Kofax, which was acquired by Lexmark. He also spent time at IBM, which included international responsibilities leading worldwide sales teams.

Pax8's Nick Heddy
Pax8, the born-in-the-cloud distributor, promoted Nick Heddy to chief revenue officer. His previous role was senior VP of sales and marketing, where the company said he was integral in driving sales growth —resulting in a spot (No. 68) on the Inc. 5000.
Heddy has been at Pax8 since 2013.

Malwarebytes' Barry Mainz
Barry Mainz is the new chief revenue officer for Malwarebytes, the endpoint protection and remediation provider. He has 25 years of experience, most recently at MobileIron, where he oversaw sales and business strategies.
Other experience includes jobs at Wind River, Mercury Interactive and Sun Microsystems.
ABBYY's Rusty James
ABBYY, which provides "content intelligence solutions," tapped Rusty James as its new head of partner business in North America. His job is to drive the development and execution of channel partnerships among VARs, SIs and ISVs to expand sales of ABBYY's solutions throughout Mexico, Canada and the U.S.
His experience includes positions at Ricoh and Fujitsu.

Kaspersky Lab's Maxim Frolov
Kaspersky Lab promoted Maxim Frolov from VP of global sales to managing director in North America. He's now focused on leading sales activities, working with partners and continuing the success of the cybersecurity provider's digital consumer business.
He will work to streamline the regional business, grow opportunities with top-selling channel partners and maximize profitability, the company said.

Arcserve's Sue Fossnes
Sue Fossnes comes to Arcserve from McAfee, where she was global partner programs leader. In her new role as North American channel director at the data-protection provider, she'll be responsible for the development, implementation and measurement of new and existing channel programs, including associated partner incentives.
A 20-year veteran of the industry, Fossnes was responsible for all aspects of McAfee's channel program, including design and enablement across various indirect routes to market.

Portnox's Tomer Shemer-Buchbut
Portnox, the network access control vendor, names Tomer Shemer-Buchbut, previously with Verint, the data-mining and intelligence provider, as VP of products.
He is tasked with the design and development of the Portnox product portfolio. At Verint, he was the head of the cybersecurity team. Motorola Solutions is another former employer.

A number of telecom and IT sales professionals got new jobs for the holiday season.
Among them: Vonage added another Windstream vet to its growing channel stable; TPx appointed a channel manager for “Big D”; and master-agent Telarus appointed a new senior partner development manager.
