Autotask and ConnectWise are increasingly focused on KPI dashboards.

ConnectWise and Autotask, fierce rivals in the MSP software market, are starting to compete on a new battle front: Key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards for reporting and business intelligence. Here’s the situation.

ConnectWise CEO Arnie Bellini described major best practices at the IT Nation 2013 conference today in Orlando, Fla. The best practices will include KPIs (key performance indicators) that MSPs and IT service providers can leverage in dashboards — which will debut in Q1 2014.

Meanwhile, Autotask is in the market talking frequently about its own dashboards — which debuted a few months ago.

I can’t help but believe this is the new battle ground as PSA and RMM platforms evolve into total business management (TBM) and total business automation (TBA) solutions. I’ll update this blog with more thoughts a bit later today.
