Dell KACE furthers its departure from stealth mode with the announcement that as of Feb. 10, 2011, MSPs will be able to use its updated K1000 systems management appliance to oversee endpoints connected directly to U.S. government agencies. And it includes a compliance policy scanner to ensure that managed machines are playing by the rules. Here’s the scoop:

The updated Dell KACE K1000 appliance supports the latest Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC), which is the required security settings for those machines with a direct line to federal servers, according to the company’s press release.

Better than simple anti-malware and patch management, Dell KACE noted its approach tightens security and reduces the client network’s “attack surface.” And it works just as well for enterprises and government customers alike. The new Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Scanner will watch endpoints and make sure they stay compliant with requirements, whether imposed by a company or the government.

Also included in the Dell KACE K1000 is Firefox Secure Browser – a virtualized, isolated instance of the browser that keeps malware from entering the system at large. And with the updated version, administrators get the ability to customize the configuration. Firefox Secure Browser is available free right now from Dell KACE’s website.

MSPmentor has a hunch that Dell KACE has more announcements in the works, so stay tuned.
