IT Nation 2015 is taking place this week in Orlando, Florida. Which companies are making noise at the event? Here's a closer look at seven of the biggest news stories from IT Nation for managed service providers (MSPs).
OnPage Corporation has announced OnPage for ConnectWise, which provides ConnectWise users with access to OnPage's cloud-based IT alerting capabilities. "ConnectWise users now have, for the first time, an enterprise-grade real-time alert and response capability from within ConnectWise," OnPage CEO Judit Sharon said in a prepared statement.
eFolder has unveiled Anchor 2.4, a new version of its file sync and share solution that features a ConnectWise billing integration. In addition, eFolder has launched the Anchor Not for Resale (NFR) Program to give free Anchor 2.4 access to qualified partners.
ConnectWise CEO Arnie Bellini noted that his company will merge its family of products, which includes remote monitoring and management (RMM) software LabTech Software, remote access solution ScreenConnect and quoting and proposal software Quosal. Bellini said ConnectWise plans to offer these products on a single platform.
By 2020, more than 25 billion “things” will be connected to the Internet—everything from yoga mats to smart watches, Bellini said. And as such, he pointed out that the Internet of Things (IoT) could become increasingly important for MSPs to transform their businesses.
Bellini highlighted the importance of digital security for MSPs during his keynote address. He noted that the abundance of data ensures "security's going to become a very big issue" over the next few years.
What should MSPs expect from the cloud? Bellini said the increasing demand for cloud computing requires additional administrators to manage cloud technologies, ensuring the cloud is likely here to stay. "Cloud is not going away, and we have to get in the middle of that," Bellini said. "If you combine all the data and security, which becomes a real big issue, there is a lot of opportunity [for the channel]."
Bellini shared his thoughts on the managed services industry and the need for a "brain-friendly" approach to managed services during his keynote address as well. He pointed out that ConnectWise is developing a centralized cloud console designed to help MSPs broker cloud services to their customers in a cost-effective and profitable manner.
