ScienceLogic adds Hybrid Cloud Support to Software Platform

rsz_jeremy(1)IT management software provider ScienceLogic Inc. has extended its existing solutions to support hybrid cloud monitoring and management in the latest release of ScienceLogic Smart IT platform. The update specifically targets ScienceLogic Power-Packs that provide smart monitoring policies that are highly automated for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and VMware vCloud Director. Which new featues have been added to ScienceLogic v7.3 for MSPs? Here are the details.

ScienceLogic v.7.3 was designed to support multi-tenant operations for service providers or enterprises, the company said. The solution enables management to view service levels, including health, availability and risk, regardless of where individual service delivery resources reside.

The following features are new in ScienceLogic v7.3:

  • advanced monitoring of AWS — monitoring of AWS through a set of performance, availability and billing information dashboard views, across multiple Amazon accounts, services and regions;

  • advanced monitoring of VMware vCloud Director — access to level monitoring automatically for VMware cloud assets across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments;

  • dynamic component mapping — ability to leverage automated relational mapping and continuous  updates to status of individual systems, such as Cisco UCS, VCE Vblock and virtual environments using vMotion;

  • ScienceLogic RESTful API — access all performance, fault, configuration and analytics data.

Cloud Strategist Jeremy Sherwood (pictured) told MSPmentor via email that MSPs can now compete with AWS or leverage AWS through ScienceLogic’s AWS coverage to generate revenue, which also steers the hybrid computing market.

Sherwood expects more businesses, MSPs, and government agencies will expand their IT operations, resulting in a shift to the hybrid model.

“More and more workloads need to be spun up quickly and don’t maintain the traditional life cycle of three to five years,” he said. “That shift causes a paradigm transformation that drives the hybrid model. It doesn’t make financial or business sense for every piece of IT service of an organization that may traditionally have been purchased to be purchased or outsourced anymore. The workloads and technology needs for those workloads have changed. The hybrid model is the answer; it’s the best of both worlds”

The company reported earlier in the year that it broke its annual sales record, after a strong fourth quarter in 2012.
