6 Million Zimbra Email Users

Oh my. The VAR Guy’s earlier post today–describing how 80 VARs embraced Open-Xchange email–generated some interesting buzz in the open source sector.

A trusted source tells The VAR Guy that Zimbra–another open source email system–now has 6 million paid mailboxes. And, as the tipster stated, “a significant chunk of those sales came through channel partners.” Talk about momentum: Two million of those mailboxes were licensed in the last three months.

The VAR Guy expects Zimbra to release its next collaboration suite (ZCS 4.5) in the next few days. Several new partners are expected to step forward and support the suite as well.
