Seinfeld succeeded with a show about nothing. Now, Avaya wants to reward VARs with a partner program about nothing (well, almost nothing). Confused? Don’t be. Avaya has an intriguing program that pays “sales influencers” a 5 percent commission even if they don’t actually sell Avaya products. Here’s how it works.

The Avaya Sales Influencer Program allows VARs to “earn unlimited commissions without selling a thing,” according to Avaya marketing materials handed out at an Avnet conference in Colorado Springs this week.

Under the three-step sales influencer program, VARs:

  1. Identify end-customer leads for Avaya products and solutions

  2. Kick back while Avaya partners pursue the opportunities

  3. Earn 5 percent commissions on sales that close within 12 months

The commissions are paid directly by Avaya. But does the program work? The VAR Guy doesn’t know, but he’s open to feedback from partners. For more info, check out https://secure.avaya-news.com/web/avaya/influencer.
