Dell Updates Laser Printers with Mobile Print Capabilities
July 6, 2012
The big news this week from Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) was the company’s long-expected acquisition of IT management software provider Quest Software, but the company also unveiled a slew of laser printers aimed at boosting productivity and featuring the Dell Mobile Print application for Google Android devices.
The offerings — two color laser printers and three monochrome laser printers — are aimed at home offices and SMBs and are the first of a series of imaging portfolio updates the company plans to make.
The C3760n ($549) and C3760dn ($649) color printers offer advanced security management (LDAP and Kerberos authentication), Dell EA-Eco Toner that can consume less energy, and color print management with ColorTrack Pro v1.1.
The C3765dnf ($1,099) features Nuance PaperPort Pro 14 for document management, a 4.3-inch-inch color touchscreen LCD operation panel, and up to 80,000 pages maximum monthly duty cycle. All three C3760 printers come equipped with Dell’s Mobile Print application.
The B1160 ($99), B1160w ($119), B1260dn ($149) and B1265dnf ($249) monochrome laser printers, aimed at budget-conscious businesses. The wireless-enabled B1160w offers built-in Wi-Fi and one-button WPS wireless setup.
The B1260dn allows users to print from mobile devices with Mobile Print, AirPrint or Google Cloud Print, and includes both an eco mode feature and built-in Ethernet, while the B1265dnf boasts a 40-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), Dell printer manager document software and scan, copy and fax functions.
Additionally, Dell has updated its 2355dn multifunction monochrome laser printer with pre-install menu shortcuts and other productivity features. The enhanced 2355dn ($599) is available for order this week. For existing 2355dn owners, the new features are available for download via a firmware update.
