Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), already a Microsoft Azure cloud partner, on Tuesday announced an HPE/Microsoft Azure Stack solution, an integrated system that will deliver Azure-compatible infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) services to businesses from their on-premises data centers. The solution, built on HPE’s ProLiant DL 380, is slated for availability mid-2017.

HPE's Paul MillerEnhancements to HPE Flexible Capacity and support for Azure – or pay-as-you-go model hybrid IT – also announced Tuesday, broaden the cloud solutions that HPE partners deliver to customers.

“Many enterprises would like to host Azure within their data centers for performance, security or compliance reasons, and many service providers would like to offer Azure-compatible services for data sovereignty or other targeted services,” said Paul Miller, vice president of marketing, Converged Data Center Infrastructure, at HPE. “HPE is teaming with Microsoft to deliver the right mix of on- and off-premises Azure services with built-in security, operations management, pay-as-you-go pricing and the expertise that provides unmatched flexibility and cost savings for enterprise workloads.”

HPE boasts that the new, jointly engineered offer will allow customers who require retaining control of their hybrid-cloud deployments to get it — along with flexibility, speed, security and cost-effectiveness.{ad}

At the same time, the new HPE/Azure Stack solution is built on the HPE ProLiant DL380, which offers compute, storage, network and software; and offers a uniform portal with access to both Azure public and private cloud services for provisioning cloud resources, building applications, and moving them between Azure public cloud and Azure Stack running on-premises.

HPE also introduced HPE Consulting for Azure Hybrid Cloud services — advisory and implementation consulting services for Azure hybrid cloud that service providers can tap into today. Azure hybrid-cloud services include security, workload migration, identity networking and backup and recovery.
