Linksys Now Part of Cisco Channel Partner Program
August 13, 2008
First, The VAR Guy was a little early. Now he’s a little late. Our resident blogger reported rumors last week that Cisco was tweaking its Linksys partner strategy. The official announcement finally surfaced earlier today. Here’s what’s cooking.
In a press release, Cisco said that it is:
“incorporating the Linksys® Small-Business Channel Partner Program services and assets into the award-winning Cisco Channel Partner Program. This process includes bringing the Linksys Business Series products into the Cisco SMB portfolio and providing Cisco channel partners with access to a more diverse solution set to allow for more choice and increased revenue potential.”
Sweet. The VAR Guy heard rumblings about this last week. Clearly, our blogger’s dumpster-diving sources remain very reliable.
Also of note: Andrew Sage has been named vice president of Small Business Sales, Worldwide Channels at Cisco. The VAR Guy spoke with Sage last week, seeking to find out if Cisco planned to phase out the Linksys brand over the next few years. Sage said no such plans were in place.
Oh, and one parting thought: This SMB channel partner program expansion does not affect the Linksys consumer sales efforts, Cisco says.
