Bruce: My first job with a W2 was as a dishwasher.
The VAR Guy says: A noble profession, but we much prefer you as a channel chief, where you can focus on helping partners clean up on their profit margins.
Bruce: A Mercedes SL65 roadster … I already own it!
The VAR Guy says: What a choice! It must be a pleasure driving to work every morning when you get to roll up in style.
Bruce: I live in Southern California and travel extensively on business around the world. Vacations to me are staying home.
The VAR Guy says: We know exactly how you feel about traveling so much—it can be fun for a while, but at the end of the day, nothing is better than relaxing with family in the comfort of your own home.
Bruce: “Citizen Soldiers” by Stephen Ambrose. It’s a story about how ordinary young men rose to extraordinary heights through self-initiative.
The VAR Guy says: Ambrose’s gripping tale details the lives of ordinary soldiers of WWII, giving readers a unique perspective on what it was really like to fight in some of history’s most infamous battles.
Bruce: See dream car above—it made no practical sense other than I wanted it.
The VAR Guy says: For a beautiful car like that, no explanation is necessary.
Bruce: It’s a tie between “House of Cards” and “The Walking Dead.”
The VAR Guy says: Both are great shows about people doing what needs to be done to survive, with the exception that one involves copious amounts of zombie violence (we won’t say which one, though).
Bruce: I wanted to be a mechanical engineer.
The VAR Guy says: From what we’ve heard, this is a tough (yet rewarding) career. It seems like your younger self certainly had some noble career aspirations.
Bruce: “The Shawshank Redemption.” This film is an allegory about holding on to one’s sense of personal worth/pride despite everything.
The VAR Guy says: This movie is truly a modern-day classic. The film is based on Stephen King’s “Different Seasons,” a collection of novellas published in 1982.
