David Petts, senior vice president of Worldwide Sales, ShoreTel
Petts: One of my first jobs was on the ‘Streaker Squad’ at Twickenham, home stadium for England Rugby Internationals. My job was part of the security team specifically tasked with removing any naked revelers from the field. This didn’t happen too often in the winter months, but when the weather was nicer work picked up!
The VAR Guy says: I hear that streaking requires a lot of naked ambition – sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves.
Petts: Pretty much any Aston Martin, but it has to be in classic British racing green.
The VAR Guy says: Ah, a rolling work of art worthy of 007 himself. Do these come standard with ejection seats?
Petts: Antigua, Guatemala with Kimberly, my wife. A wonderful Spanish colonial city with great restaurants. Surrounded by volcanoes, one of which we climbed, the 13,000-foot Acatenango complete with running around the crater at the summit.
The VAR Guy says: How beautiful! You and your wife must be more graceful than The VAR Guy, because with his luck he would have tripped while running around the edge of that volcano.
Petts: I really like, “The Five Dysfunctions of a Team,” by Patrick M. Lencioni from a business perspective, but also really enjoyed, “Losing My Virginity,” by Richard Branson.
The VAR Guy says: Both excellent choices. “The Five Disfunctions of a Team,” by Patrick Lencioni, is a fictional tale of teamwork and collaboration that delves into some of the real-life problems facing employees in corporate environments. And for a lighter, (but still informative) read, Richard Branson’s, “Losing My Virginity,” is a detailed and interesting autobiographical look at one of one of the world’s most interesting business gurus.
Petts: Buying two great seat tickets for Maroon 5 at Madison Square Garden.
The VAR Guy says: It “Really Makes Me Wonder” if you had a good time at the concert. Did you call home on a “Payphone”? Or perhaps use any “Maps” to find your way back to your car? (Again, we couldn’t help ourselves.)
