It's Friday, and you know what that means: early happy hour and the channel product roundup. This week we have releases from SwiftStack, Cognetyx, Plexxi, cPacket and NovaStor. Click through, see what's new and have an excellent weekend.
SwiftStack, which helps organizations leverage public cloud storage behind enterprise firewalls, is collaborating with Cisco to develop a turnkey enterprise cloud solution. Their goal is to increase the speed of innovation and agility to respond to emerging market opportunities. Essentially, it’s an integration of SwiftStack 4.0 with Cisco Metapod to help users build public cloud storage capabilities into their on-premise data centers.
“The largest IT consumers worldwide trust Cisco as a strategic supplier, making this cloud infrastructure reseller collaboration especially synergistic,” said Don Jaworski, CEO, SwiftStack. “As the only object storage product powered by OpenStack Software, SwiftStack natively integrates with other Cisco cloud products, and delivers turnkey storage to any enterprise looking to bring the power of public cloud storage behind their firewall in their data centers.”
Houston-based Cognetyx is putting artificial intelligence (AI) to work for cyber-security. They’ve launched a new surveillance platform called Ambient Cognitive Cyber Surveillance geared toward the healthcare industry, a highly targeted sector for hackers and cyber-criminals. The platform leverages AI and machine learning to learn a provider’s specific system and user patterns to be able to detect abnormalities in real time.
"Health care organizations now have another powerful shield at their disposal to safeguard patient, employee data or any other confidential data," said Amit Kulkarni, Co-Founder and CEO of Cognetyx. "Cognetyx has the technology to help identify and predict data and privacy breaches in healthcare with accuracy ratings in the high 90's, and with the lowest false positive rates in the industry.”
Fresh on the heels of last week’s announcement of its new partnership with Aligned Data Centers, application-defined network provider Plexxi has released two new pieces of software to support its application-defined network product line. Plexxi Connect 2.0 and Plexxi Control 2.4 deliver per-workload segmentation, security, optimization and visualization for both private and public cloud data centers. The goal is to deliver high performance and service quality for different applications and workloads on parallel networks.
Aligned has created the first on-demand utility model for an evolving data center industry, aimed at providing cloud players with infrastructure that is as elastic as next generation compute and storage,” said Aligned Energy CEO Jakob Carnemark. “Plexxi’s network solution provides the application responsive network layer. Together, we can deliver the first true software-defined data center infrastructure where our customers can enjoy a fully integrated network and data center alternative that can be consumed as a service.”
In more networking news, cPacket has released two new network performance monitoring solutions. cNAT provides real-time IP correlation of traffic from both sides of a carrier-grade gateway. When network address translation (NAT) is used, cNAT enables identification of individual users’ IP addresses, allowing administrators to more quickly and easily track down the sources of potential malicious activity.
But the cooler announcement (at least, in the editors’ opinions), is cPacket’s release of a predictive behavioral analytics solution geared toward the financial sector. The company says the software can monitor 1,000 data streams per port at one-millisecond resolution. That means network administrators can receive proactive alerts of imminent performance issues before they impact end users.
“For financial services firms, network performance and the cost of network downtime is serious business, where split seconds can potentially have million-dollar ramifications,” said cPacket CEO Brendan O’Flaherty. “As microbursts approach a network’s port capacity, they can become predictive indicators of imminent network issues before an outage occurs. Identifying problems in advance is extremely valuable, as it provides our customers with the ability to take corrective action before their user’s trades are impacted.”
Backup solution provider NovaStor upgraded their signature product with granular restore capability that provides direct access to unmounted database tables and mail store contents. It has a search tool that lets users specify exactly what pieces of information they want to export, which the company says significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to search and restore email, in addition to consolidating and migrating Microsoft Exchange Server.
“No matter what industry you’re in, data availability is critical and the amount of time spent to retrieve lost data must be minimal.” said Mike Andrews, Managing Director at NovaStor. “Our new Granular Restore tool makes it easier than ever for NovaBACKUP users to pinpoint specific data, and have it at their fingertips at those times when they need it most.”
