This one is for all you open source fans. Crunchy Data announced that its open sourcing its Crunchy PostgreSQL Container Suite. That means that the PostgreSQL relational database management system (RDBMS) has been modernized to work with cloud native architectures, bringing agility, scalability and self-healing to databases managed in Linux containers.
“The benefits that containers deliver to application developers and DevOps engineers are clear, but data architects have been left wondering ‘How can I run my database in an ephemeral container?’ We’ve answered that question with the release of the Crunchy PostgreSQL Container Suite. This is a result of our belief that cloud native architectures are going to be very influential in the future of the IT stack, and we see a clear need for being able to incorporate the PostgreSQL database into those architectures. This is an exciting time and we are thrilled to be working with companies like Red Hat and great open source communities like PostgreSQL, Docker and Kubernetes
Intronis MSP Solutions, which provides data protection and security solutions for managed service providers, released a new subscription-based firewall appliance. The new firewall solution is geared specifically to the needs of managed service providers (MSPs) who want to be able to manage multiple customers and locations through one central console.

Plug-and-play remote monitoring and management (RMM) provider Kabuto has released Patch Management, a new feature that auto-updates browsers, Flash, Java, Adobe Reader and other common malware attack vectors.
An RMM combined with a lead-generation tool, Kabuto was designed specifically to help channel partners grow recurring revenue streams, a point of critical consideration in today’s channel environment. Priced lower than many of its competitors (free for up to 50 devices, and starting at $119 per year for up to 250 devices), Kabuto gives service providers, system integrators and computer shops an alternative to pricier, more complex options from shops such as LabTech and Kaseya.

Nintex Hawkeye captures process data, leverages business intelligence (BI) tools like Microsoft Power BI and Tableau and then creates reports and dashboards to give IT decision makers insight into procedural operations.
“Nintex Hawkeye is an explicit effort to improve workflow analytics the same way we helped our customers and partners easily automate their business processes,” said Nintex CEO John Burton. “We’ve made it extremely easy to instrument, measure and monitor business processes and in doing so we’re helping our customers digitally transform how work gets done.”
Encryption is a hot topic in the channel today, especially for businesses that need to transmit sensitive data over public or private networks. Masergy has partnered with Certes Networks to leverage its Crypto-Flow technology in order to provide high levels of security for Masergy’s suite of managed network functions, including routers, firewalls, session border controllers and WAN optimization. Customers can choose either a hardware-based option for on-prem deployments or a virtualized network function running on the Masergy Intelligent Bridge.
“In this era of increased threats, Masergy has teamed with Certes Networks to bring an essential layer of protection to business critical applications,” said Tim Naramore, CTO, Masergy. “WAN Encryption provides a managed service approach to encryption policies and key management, which reduces the complexity of managing a sophisticated safeguarding process.”
