Telecom/IT Lawyer Collects Donations for Hurricane Harvey Victims

The Bronston Legal Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund now is accepting donations.

Ben Bronston, telecom/IT lawyer and authority on agent agreements, has set up a fund to help victims of this week’s devastating floods from Hurricane Harvey.

The New Orleans native lives in Houston, where large parts of the city remain underwater and thousands have fled their homes. At least 19 deaths related to the hurricane and its aftermath have been reported in Texas.

“I have seen firsthand how a natural disaster can affect lives, communities, and even an entire region,” Bronston said. “That’s why I decided to set up a Hurricane Harvey relief fund so that more money can go directly to those who need it. Organizations like the American Red Cross are amazing — they do great work and they are always there when we need them. However, my employees and I know so many people who would really benefit from not having donations delayed by bureaucracy or watered down by overhead or other competing causes.”

So far, donations have topped $10,000. Bronston’s goal is to raise $50,000 for hurricane victims.

“It wasn’t until 12 years ago today (the day that Hurricane Katrina made landfall) that I even thought about making Houston my home,” he said. “Fortunately, the people of Houston welcomed and embraced my family and me. Now I want to return the favor. “
