Network security cloud company Opaq has appointed industry veteran Lynn Tinney to the position of senior vice president of channels. She will be responsible for growing revenues through the company’s 100 percent-channel sales model, as well as for developing and executing partner strategy to capitalize on the growing midmarket demand for cloud-delivered networking and security.

“Opaq’s security-as-a-service platform enables channel partners to offer the right set of services to each customer from the cloud, without making upfront capital investments in hardware or software,” said Tinney. “This helps partners scale their businesses in ways never before possible and deliver the level of enterprise-grade security protection and networking performance their customers need.”

Tinney comes to Opaq from CA Technologies, where was vice president of partners for North America. Prior to CA, she was vice president of Americas channels at Riverbed Technology. During her tenure there, she opened new markets, segments and verticals. Before joining Riverbed, she spent six years with Cisco Systems, where director of strategy and planning for the Americas, she managed a team that delivered $7 billion in annual revenues. She also has held executive channel positions with Siemens and Enterasys.

“Lynn is one of the industry’s top channel sales executives and has built and managed billion-dollar revenue streams for leading security and networking technology companies,” said Glenn C. Hazard, chairman and CEO of Opaq. “As the result of our rapid growth, the need for such an individual was critical. Lynn’s experience and leadership comes at a pivotal time for Opaq.”

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in October.

In March, Opaq announced the acquisition of FourV Systems to enhance its security-as-a-service platform with performance and regulatory compliance measurement, monitoring and reporting.

The next month, Opaq closed a $22.5 million Series B round of venture financing intended to accelerate its go-to-market with its partners.

In July, Ken Ammon, Opaq’s chief strategy officer, talked to Channel Partners about what his company has to offer partners and the strength of its cloud-based security-as-a-service platform.
