Channel Futures: What role did partners play in KnowBe4’s growth and expansion last year?
Tony Jennings: Our partners play a huge part in KnowBe4‘s growth on a global scale. It is no secret that working with partners is what allows us to multiply and expand our business, as our partners truly serve as trusted advisers for their customers. As the number of breaches continue to increase even with increased security spending, our partners understand the need to develop a human firewall and introduce KnowBe4 to their customers so we can jointly work to build a strong security culture.
CF: Are there new solutions/opportunities for partners that will be shared during KB4-CON? If so, what are those?
TJ: We will be sharing the product road map with partners, which is always exciting so that our partners see what is coming soon as so much of their feedback and feature requests help to drive this. Additionally, we are seeing partners have a lot of success around offering products like PhishER to make it easier for their customers to prioritize email threats, and Compliance Plus for interactive compliance training. So we are offering more training on these products to partners at KB4-CON.
CF: Has the competitive landscape shifted for KnowBe4 and its partners? How is KnowBe4 staying a step ahead of competitors?
TJ: The threat security landscape is evolving every day, which means KnowBe4 and our partners need to constantly evolve to meet the security needs of our joint customers. KnowBe4 has continued to be a leader in this field and was named a leader in the Forrester Wave. Our goal is to enable our partners to be thought leaders and evangelists on the importance of awareness, behavior and culture in security.
CF: What sort of feedback have you received from partners in terms of their latest needs and those of their customers?
TJ: Partners are often asking for the best way to communicate the importance of building a human firewall and how to provide data to their customers to show the need for it. We have had partners embrace KnowBe4’s thought leadership content and use our free tools to set that baseline phishing test with their clients. And those partners have been extremely successful. KB4-CON is a great way for us to help enable our partners in this way.
CF: What are you hoping partners can take away and make use of from KB4-CON?
TJ: We are looking forward to providing a forum for partners to share ideas with their peers, learn best practices, engage with security experts and network with our team. We would like to see them walk away with a couple items that they can implement as soon as they get back to grow and expand their security awareness business.

KB4-CON 2022 is taking place this week in Orlando, Florida. It is focusing on peer insights, product updates and best practices, and topics such as governance, risk and compliance (GRC), ransomware, cyber insurance and more.

“After two years of virtual events, we are thrilled to bring KB4-CON back to our customers and partners as an in-person event this year,” he said.
Awareness, behavior and culture are at the center of KB4-CON 2022, Sjouwerman said.
For fiscal year 2021, KnowBe4 reported a nearly 41% increase in revenue year-over-year, to $246.3 million. However, it reported a loss of nearly $12 million compared to a $2.4 million loss in 2020.

“The theme of the entire conference is centered around our vision to drive the ABCs: awareness, behavior, which leads to a strong cybersecurity culture,” he said. “This is what we – KnowBe4 and our partners – jointly need to be messaging and educating customers on the true value of the eighth layer of security, which is what we refer to as the human firewall.”
KnowBe4 has created a “unique company culture internally,” Jennings said. Its primary goal to take that and build its program and partner community using those same principles.
These principles include “radical transparency” and “extreme ownership,” he said. Also, “Stu’s tagline to ‘do it right the first time, do it fast and have fun while you do it.'”
