Another data point in security’s migration the cloud comes from NaviSite Inc. , which has tapped Mimecast’s SaaS product for e-mail risk mitigation and compliance.

NaviSite, which provides hosting and managed cloud services, will sell Mimecast’s Unified Email Management suite as part of its Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus messaging services. In addition to security services, NaviSite will provide e-mail continuity and archiving in the cloud via Mimecast.

Mimecast isn’t the only option for NaviSite customers. NaviSite also works with Global Relay, a Vancouver-based company that offers hosted e-mail filtering, continuity and archiving. A spokeswoman for NaviSite said Global Relay holds data in Canada, while Mimecast can hold data in the U.S. and/or Europe. Also, NaviSite uses Trend Micro for anti-virus and Google’s Postini services for anti-spam.

In other security-in-the-cloud moves, McAfee last month revealed plans for a SaaS partner designation. Also last month, Alert Logic, which provides SaaS-based security products, announced a deal with Tenzing Managed IT Services.

Infonetics Research earlier this year reported that worldwide SaaS security revenue grew 70 percent in 2009, citing Web, e-mail, and anti-virus security among the main drivers.
