DOVADO has released the W-series of access devices and gateways to target operators deploying 3G service using the UMTS-TDD standard, based on TD-CDMA.

The W-series includes support for laptop cards from IPWireless, which support peak download speeds of 3mbps on UMTS-TDD, while allowing the use of 3G UMTS-TDD as the radio backhaul technology for Wi-Fi devices. The unit thus will allow service providers to deliver a service portfolio with a range of voice and data options and mobile devices.

Meanwhile, the separate devices needed in a home or office to provide the combination of broadband Internet and telephony services will continue to consolidate, allowing mobile operators and wireless ISPs to compete in the sector traditionally dominated by the fixed-line operators, the company says.

As more operators are spreading TDD around the world to solve the broadband needs of their subscribers, we at DOVADO are there to offer additional features such as Wi-Fi and managed telephony, says Eric Arthur, DOVADO CEO. Such capabilities allow mobile operators to offer high-grade voice and broadband data out of one box, delivered by one operator. This is a powerful combination.
