OneStar Acquires Ustel/Arcada
Evansville, Ind.-based OneStar Long Distance Inc. has added another long distance
customer base acquisition to its belt with the purchase of Ustel Inc./Arcada
Communications Inc., a jointly controlled Seattle-based company.
This is the third acquisition by OneStar in less than a month. The company previously
purchased NeTel Inc. (Tel3), Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Apollo Telecom Network Inc., Salt
Lake City.
The purchase of the Ustel/Arcada customer base will add to OneStar’s growing base of
customers and will provide OneStar with an additional sales office and switch, increasing
OneStar’s footprint in the western United States. With its purchase of Apollo, the service
provider also acquired another office in the Salt Lake City area.
OneStar’s new acquisitions are consistent with an expansion strategy the company
started earlier this year. In May, it acquired the long distance customer base of Cellnet
Telecommunications of Michigan LLC. OneStar also extended its authorization to provide
service to include 45 of the 48 contiguous states. It has plans to serve the entire
continental United States in the near future.
