Cavalier Telecom Completes Elantic Purchase
January 30, 2006
Cavalier Telephone, a facilities-based carrier headquartered in Richmond, Va., said today it has completed its acquisition of Elantic Telecom, which formerly was called Dominion Telecom.
The acquisition adds Elantics 8,200 route miles of fiber to Cavaliers own 3,000-mile fiber network. Cavalier CEO Brad Evans said the company will use Elantics resources to expand its retail presence, especially as it rolls out IPTV services.
Cavalier runs a partner program for agents wanting to sell its products and services, which range from local and long-distance to Web hosting and VoIP.
Elantic provides fiber-optic, voice and data services to wireless, long-distance, government and large enterprise customers in 24 states. Over the past 18 months, Cavalier has been providing management, engineering and operating support to Elantic through a management services agreement.
“Integrating the Cavalier and Elantic fiber networks will ensure our customers have access to the fastest and most reliable telecommunications network on the east coast,” said Brad Evans’s Cavalier’s CEO. The Elantic network is equipped with the latest in IP and SONET technology capable of handling millions of simultaneous voice and data calls.
