Hatteras Networks (Booth 1108), a provider of devices to enable high-bandwidth access over copper, has announced a new 200-megabit symmetrical Ethernet-over-copper product, called the HN 4000. The new product works with bonded copper pairs, and links up to 40 pairs to achieve up to 200 megabits of throughput.

With this new product, Hatteras is able to offer SLAs on both a per-port and per service basis. In other words, SLAs can be given for both the bandwidth and for services, such as Internet access, VPN or VoIP, if the customer wishes.

The HN 4000 is a 1-RU device placed at both the customer premises and in the central office. The device has been designed to be deployed anywhere in an access plant, and includes front interfaces and standard rack mounting. It also is temperature-hardened so it does not require highly controlled environmental conditions.
