Value-added distributor Novus LLC now sells the NEC SL1100 Communications System, an entry-level unified communications (UC) platform its VARs can offer to small businesses.

The SLC1100 recently launched in North America; its counterpart in Europe and South America is known as the SLC1000. The NEC system is scalable, so end users can add to it as their companies grow or communications demands increase. It uses specific NEC digital handsets that come with applications for business productivity, programs such as the Desktop Client. Desktop Client integrates with Microsoft Outlook contacts and offers click-to-dial functionality.

"As a new product to the U.S. market, the SL1100 is available at an extremely attractive price, giving resellers an exciting opportunity to expand their customer base," said Chris Meehan, managing partner at Novus. "VARs can offer UC and mobility solutions at compelling price points from an established manufacturer while maintaining the opportunity to upgrade customers over time, and can help SMBs leverage their investments in handsets as they enhance their communications infrastructure over time.”
