Marietta, Ga.-based Optelian Access Networks (Booth 202) has announced the release of the first in a series of products for gigabit Ethernet and IPTV transport. The LightGAIN RGN 212 provides 3R regeneration for optical transmission systems.

The hardened product can be mounted in a 2-RU space in remote terminals and offers a replacement for add-drop multiplexers (ADMs) at a fraction of the cost, the company says.

The LightGAIN 212 will be followed up soon by the release of the LightGAIN GEX 225 gigabit Ethernet extension unit, which offers an economical alternative to high-dollar Ethernet access rings and ADMs, Optelian says.
