Powernet Hires Seasoned Channel Vet as Senior Director of Strategic Channels
This newest addition to the channel team will add a new layer of support for agents.
Cincinnati-based Powernet, which provides voice, data, Wi-Fi and SIP products and services, has named Chris Raponi senior director of strategic channels. The company expects the 20-year veteran of the telecommunications industry to use his experience, coupled with a fresh approach, to add a new layer of support, simplicity and proven leadership for its agents.
Raponi comes to Powernet from IntelePeer, where he served as director of strategic alliances. In working with some of the world’s largest telecom service providers, he developed the ability to use his knowledge of the industry to create and scale brand awareness for various solutions. In announcing his hire, Powernet made note of Raponi’s disruptive outlook, which questions the status quo, promoting innovation and creating opportunities that enable growth and further development of ideas and processes.

“Powernet is driven by a desire to win,” said Raponi. “The company has years of experience in the industry and is always willing to innovate to solve industry issues. When you combine all these things you get a personal brand that reflects well on our partners and customers.”
Raponi believes that simplicity is key in educating partners on Powernet’s offerings. Empowering partners to quickly understand and bid the latest technology allows agents to stay proactive in a rapidly advancing industry.
“Emphasizing a focused approach and keeping it simple will allow us to be better advocates for partners and provide quality support to customers,” said Raponi. “Powernet already has a great portfolio of services.”
“Chris brings a focused, get-it-done approach that will keep the ball rolling for the channel program,” said Penny Thurnau, vice president of strategic alliances. “He is able to work as a team player, move quickly and enjoys coaching others. These qualities will be valuable assets for the team and our partners in the channel.”
Just weeks before Raponi was hired, Thurnau was promoted to vice president of strategic alliances. She has been with Powernet for more than 18 years.
