Switchvox Serves SMBs to SOHOs

Switchvox says it now offers versions of its IP PBX to serve both the SMB market and SOHOs.

SOHOs can manage their extensions via an admin screen.

We have been listening closely to our customer feedback and by adding more advanced features to our flagship product, we are able to meet the unique requirements of growing companies, says Joshua Stephens, CEO of Switchvox. With the introduction of Switchvox SOHO, we are continuing to give small businesses the opportunity to deploy an affordable, easy-touse IP PBX system. As the market continues to grow, we will work with customers to meet their demands and provide affordable, feature-rich communications solutions.

Switchvox is built on open-source standards. It works with all SIP-compatible hardware and software phones, as well as standard analog handsets, rather than only proprietary telephones like a typical PBX. Calls can be sent over the Internet to VoIP providers worldwide and directly to remote offices by peering Switchvox systems using the SIP or IAX protocols. In addition to supporting the latest technology, Switchvox also can be connected to existing phone lines, whether to a few basic analog lines or a few T1s. Advanced features in the upgraded version include a conference bridge, busy-call rules, unified messaging, extension groups, voice mail forwarding, call API for external programs, call center statistics, paging and intercom.

Switchvox products are sold as turnkey solutions that include the server hardware and pre-installed Switchvox software.

Switchvox SOHO is available immediately starting at $995, and the advanced Switchvox IP PBX product is available for $2,495.

TalkSwitch Brings VoIP to Remote Teleworkers, Branch Offices

TalkSwitch enables multilocation companies to extend its TalkSwitch small business telephone system to satellite offices by deploying gateways from Mediatrix and tying them into TalkSwitchs built-in SIP server.

The TalkSwitch VoIP-enabled phone system

In addition to toll-free Internet-based calling between locations, workers in the gateway-equipped offices become extensions of the main TalkSwitch system, and can access the same functionality available to workers in the larger office. These include voice mail, auto attendant, call cascade, three-digit dialing and more.

Interoperability with industry leaders like Mediatrix allows us to offer the first truly costeffective, complete solution for companies looking to use VoIP to tie in all their branch offices and teleworkers, says Jan Scheeren, president and CEO, TalkSwtich.

Released in July 2004, the TalkSwitch telephone system is designed for businesses with between one and 32 phone users per location. The TalkSwitch offers a hybrid architecture that allows users to communicate over the traditional PSTN, or over the IP network, using any standard analog telephone. Each TalkSwitch unit is capable of accommodating up to four CO lines and four VoIP trunks, eight local extensions and eight remote extensions. Up to four units can be networked to make a system with 16 CO lines and, 16 VoIP trunks, 32 local extensions and 32 remote extensions per location.

A VoIP-enabled TalkSwitch is priced at $1,795.

Samsung BCS OfficeServ 7200 Introduces Wireline, Wireless Convergence

Samsung BCS in October released its OfficeServ 7200 converged platform, the first to combine wireline and wireless technologies.

WIP-5000M Wireless IP Handset is part of Samsung BCS OfficeServ 7200

The convergence of wireless and wireline is that next step in enterprise communications, says Steve Gobeli, vice president of Samsung Telecommunications America, Business Communication Systems Division. For Samsung and its dealers, the OfficeServ 7200 opens a new market by allowing us to converge the data and IP wireless applications for small and medium business communications.

OfficeServ 7200 handles voice calls and data using a flexible array of modules, including LAN and WAN modules and a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface. This provides an integrated wireless and wireline platform that provides full support for Samsungs VoIP, Wireless LAN and traditional phones and IP-based data and other business communications peripherals and allows for voice call QoS control.

The OfficeServ Wireless solution, supported on the iDCS 100 IP-enabled, iDCS 500 IP-enabled and the OfficeServ 7200 platforms, combines voice features with handsets that work over the WLAN.
