Watch out Zoom, here comes RingCentral Glip, a new, free smart video offering for business meetings.

RingCentral says Glip goes beyond Zoom by adding integrated team messaging capabilities. Think Zoom plus Slack, the company said.

Participants can create groups, share files and start a meeting from a messaging thread. New meeting participants can join with no need to install anything on their device.

More Leads for Partners

“With our free RingCentral Glip offering, our partners can eliminate the barriers to entry for their customers without compromising on reliability, security and quality of technology, he said. “It’s the only free video meetings product available that delivers enterprise-grade quality and the functionality that businesses need to keep employees connected. Ultimately, we believe that having free and easy access to the product will expose more people to the technology, which in turn will generate high-quality leads for our partners.”

RingCentral Glip video meetings last up to 24 hours for up to 100 people. And it supports teams with members working from anywhere.

“Unlike competitors that may specialize in one mode (video, messaging, etc.) with added features tacked on, Glip offers a fully integrated team messaging solution with smart video meetings,” Long said. “It’s not a standalone video meeting that ends when the meeting ends. It goes well beyond that meeting.”

Collaboration

Customers want video and team messaging integrated to enable collaboration and a complete pre-, during and-post-meeting experience, he said.

“With Glip, we’re enabling smarter meetings, allowing users to provide the pre-meeting agenda, take notes during the meeting, and provide any follow-up action items once the meeting concludes for a complete 360 meetings experience,” Long said. “Team messaging is the glue that holds it all together.”

RingCentral is offering two versions of the product. Glip Pro is free and Glip Pro+ is paid. Glip Pro+ provides a range of additional video meeting and admin management capabilities. That includes the option to host larger meetings for up to 200 participants, advanced analytics, single sign-on and more.

For customers looking to add cloud PBX capabilities to Glip, they can upgrade to RingCentral Office. It offers messaging, video and phone.
