West Corp. Completes Smoothstone Acquisition

West Corp., a provider of voice and data solutions to Fortune 1000 companies and other clients, has completed its acquisition of Smoothstone IP Communications.

Smoothstone, a provider of cloud-based communications for enterprise customers, is now part of Wests subsidiary InterCall in Wests Unified Communications operating segment.

The acquisition of Smoothstone positions us as the leader in the enterprise unified communications marketplace,” said Todd Strubbe, president of Wests Unified Communications operating segment, in a statement.  

Jeff Wellemeyer, co-founder and president of Smoothstone, said both companies have vast experience implementing unified communications solutions for businesses ranging from midmarket companies to large enterprises.

Both also have deep expertise in the deployment of both Cisco and Microsoft environments,” Wellemeyer added.

Under the acquisition, Wests clients will now have access to Smoothstones portfolio of services, including cloud-based IP telephony.

Founded in 1986 and based in Omaha, Neb., West serves Fortune 1000 companies and other clients in a variety of industries, including banking, financial, healthcare, technology and telecommunications.

As a West subsidiary, InterCall offers telephony, messaging, conferencing and collaboration services to businesses ranging in size from small or regional companies to large global enterprises.
