July 21, 2005
Xspedius Communications LLC officially has closed a deal with ICG Communications Inc. to buy customers access to 194 buildings, more than 500 fiber miles and network facilities, and assets in five markets in the Southeast.
The carrier announced on Thursday it has completed regulatory approvals and finalized the acquisition.
The transaction expands Xspedius’ presence within its existing footprint in Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala., Louisville, Ky., and Nashville, while adding a new market, Charlotte, N.C.
Terms of the deal are private.
We have already found synergies in the solutions we provide our customers in these markets,” says Mark W. Senda, president and CEO of Xspedius. “We are in the process of closing several deals that have utilized assets from both companies in a seamless solution.”
Xspedius now will offer dial tone, Ethernet and fiber connectivity to local and integrated voice and data customers. Xspedius also will be entering the IP-hosted marketplace in these cities via ICG’s VoicePipe service.
