Slalom layoffs are hitting more than 900 of the consulting company’s workers as part of a restructuring.

Brad Jackson, Slalom’s CEO, announced the layoffs in a LinkedIn post. Slalom grew from a “small 100-person company with big dreams in 2001 to a 13,000-team-member global services company.”

“After extensively exploring and debating every option possible with our senior leaders, executive committee and board of directors on how to best position our company during this time of significant shifts within our industry and to plan for the future, we have made the painful decision to restructure Slalom.,” he said. “This will result in approximately 7% of our team members leaving the company.”

Slalom is the latest company doing business in the channel that has cut workers. More than 40 have shed employees since the start of 2023.

“For a company like ours with such a deep commitment to the love of life and work, this is not easy to confront and even harder for those impacted,” Jackson said. “It was important to me to have a clear set of principles guided by our core values for approaching reductions in our workforce.”

The company will focus on minimizing the impact of the Slalom layoffs to customers, and reducing overlapping capabilities and internal initiatives that do not create customer value, he said. In addition, all workforce reductions “must be equitable and mapped to our future business strategy.”

“Over the coming days, we will focus on caring for our community and work to accompany each team member leaving with the utmost support as they move toward the next phase of their careers,” Jackson said. “Today is the most challenging day in our company’s history as we share gratitude and say goodbye to some of our colleagues and friends. As we give ourselves time and grace to process this news, I appreciate any support you may offer to those leaving Slalom. Change, though often difficult, can also be a catalyst for growth and transformation, and I look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks.”
